I got 74 hits on my latest post ‘SERIOUSLY’. That in itself should not and is not disappointing, but what’s disappointing is that it’s the most read post on my blog. It’s a 2 minute post, in which i was simply mad at what i had found out and guess what, that is the post that people who have never commented before surprisingly commented on now! Is it that my normal posts (as rare as they might be), the ones that actually take me more than 20 minutes to write are not worth commenting on, don’t i always ask for your opinions, do you not have an opinion/comment on anything other than how to unblock websites? You don’t want to comment and share your thoughts at least let me know that you’re there and that you’re reading and like/dislike whatever it is that you just read. Too much to ask for?

Group dynamics is a science… Why people do something isn’t always clear.
If you manage to find an answer, I know many people would be very happy to know why!
Here’s a thing to help you determine why you got more hits. Compare the referers. See where people are coming from.

I wish i can figure out the answer. Me and a friend discussed the commenting issue once and thought that most people might not be that confident to comment especially when they don’t have an opinion on the issue or that they don’t like to share, does not make much sense though, cause most blog readers actually do have a lot to say so i don’t know.. :s
About the referrers they’re the usual ones, jordanblogs and qwaider 😀 lol, sometimes through facebook or other blogs through my comments, I guess people are attracted by weird titles that don’t show the content of the post.

u made my day (or should I say mid night) by this post!
Honestly, I pass a lot by your site but I do not comment because I usually do not have time to!
Anyways, wala yhmk! From now on I will spam ur site with comments 😉

Not having time is not an excuse >_> , yes spam my blog with comments, you can do that on weekends 😀 . By the way there is something wrong with the link you have, do you have a blog or what?

Yea (the same link I am using) but it was hit by a virus (all of the wordpress self hosted ones had this problem) I have been trying to restore it since ages, but am losing hope!
The problem I had a plugin on my old site that would copy the same content into another site (blogspot extension) but things got awful and I had to stop it! So not much of my posts are there!
Before having my own blog, I was blogging on Jordanmafia which is also disabled now by the same damned virus!
Hopefully I will restore it soon and start blogging again! Wish me luck and walllla yhmk! u will be spamed 😉

Hi Dee, heh-heh, when I saw that one was about techie stuff I skipped it without a comment. i will try to be more faithful, little sister.
It is hard. I’ve been blogging for three years and have a core group of die-hards that read all the time (unless I am really being boring). People used to comment on every post, but now with tons of blogs, fewer quality blogs, with FB (Farmville, ya salaaaam) and twitter, screen time is more divided and comments are fewer.
Maybe you need to find your niche?
Qwaider has some old posts on attracting traffic.
PS Di’s’appointing, btw. One s. 🙂

Aunty kinzi 😀 it’s ok you can not comment you have a family and all hehe :p.. if i were you i don’t know where i’d come up with the time to even sleep..
I understand about the commenting thing but the problem is some people are reading, i’m not going for a million hits a day, i don’t just want more traffic, but i’d like it if those say 30 people who read all the time are more active and comment.
Thanks for the tip hehe, i wrote it right in the post but wrong in the title :s..hehe will fix it now

hahah actually this post is intriguing and actually pushed people to comment about why not are they commenting! i guess some people need a bit of shake from time to time to spare 5 minute to comment and post their opinions! even if they disagree and even if their opinion is harsh !
i guess they prefer to comment on pictures or on personal posts rather than real issues! wired! i guess the purpose of your blog is to state your own opinion about things and other people who are interested would comment and share their thoughts with you ! i know it seems to be a bit disappointing when they prefer to tell it to you in person instead of writing it but at least we are on the way to establish an E-Journalism. keep up the good work 🙂
December 4, 2009 at 12:18 pm
Dee
yeah when you mention not commenting they start to comment about not commenting lol. My blog is mostly a personal one and i get hits i can see that but no one ever says anything or shares, and it’s just nice to know who your readers are isn’t it? And yeah it sucks when they tell you in person oh i read this and this, some people think their opinion is not important or pointless and don’t even try to share :s. Thanks girl and you keep up the good work too 🙂

Ameer
well my Dee i guess the commenting requirements are always a bugging issue for me.I hate when asked to fill in my E-mail and Name!!!
I just want to write whatever goes on my mind and submit…
that’s a point, another one is that it might be the title itself being not attractive or the subject…
one last thing for me that I’m not updated when new posts are out!
BTW I liked the new way of waking up readers!lool
December 9, 2009 at 3:37 pm
Dee
ameer if you’re logged in to your blog your info will be saved and you wouldn’t have to write them every single time you comment, except you don’t log into your account hehe….
plus my posts and the titles are attractive ya zine5!! :@ you just never check them out hehe…you can use google reader or an rss feed to know when there are new posts 🙂

Laith M.
Here’s a solution: don’t give crap. 😀
Write for your own musing, who gives a rat’s ass if people commented?
I just send out my crap for people to read… and expect nothing in return. Haha.
(losers talk? maybe.. lol)

Laith I think that no matter how much we don’t care, it’s a bitch to talk to yourself the entire time. It’s good to be heard and have people give a rat’s ass.

walla ya dina thats right bas have you ever thought why! i guess a long blong usually needs a long reply or comment so we usually skip it, besides we sometimes discuss them via msngr… i think u should go ahead with the short ones and check out the comments ull get 🙂
